  1. Lynne gave out signs, stickers, posters, and recycling promotional CDs.
    • What is on the CD:
      • Sign for electronic media
      • Facts about University recycling
      • Facts about recycling in Ann Arbor
      • Signs about container recycling, paper, polystyrene, and hardcover books.
    • America Recycles Day is November 15th
  2. Lynne told members that Waste Management staff was available to present at staff meetings and to write articles for publications (emails)
    • Some brief recycling article ideas
      • America Recycles Day (November 15th)
      • Your shining star recyclable
      • What is the twist test (for plastics)?
  3. Ideas for promotion in individual buildings
    • Julie- facilities manager is not as big on recycling and it is hard to get staff motivated. There is an operational need for more bins.
      • Lynne told member to call POCC 647-2059 for recycling bin needs
    • Carol has trouble getting people on other floors to recycle. Needs to a get a building wide recycling coordinator for each unit
      • Carol finds they go through a lot of disposable dishes- need to encourage Reusable dishes in the kitchen.
    • Debra spoke about the "green" features of Dana. Also, there is a plasma screen TV in Dana Commons that can play ads. There is interest in seeing the recycling video. Could it be put on the internet?
      • Debra would also like to see a list more readily accessible of products sold at MStores that are made of recycled materials.
    • Eileen- opportunities to put stickers on packing slips with information. They would put them on packing slips if we changed the informational tidbits.
      • Interested in stickers that say how long you can leave your computer on if it is considered better to just turn it off.
    • Paul thought it would be helpful to not only say how many tons of materials were saved etc., but also to calculate how much money recycling in their building saves.

Other items discussed: Can Mstores put labels on copy reams to say that they are now recyclable?
