November 15 is America Recycles Day! ARD is the only nationally recognized day to renew recycling efforts across our University campus, state and country. The purpose of America Recycles Day is to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a better natural environment.
To celebrate America Recycles Day 2008, Waste Management Services will be on the Central Campus Diag on November 13th from 9 am -12 pm promoting the use of reusable rather than disposable mugs by passing out free reusable mugs. We will also be holding a small electronics drive to recycle cells phones, PDA’s, and pagers. So come get a free mug, recycle your cell phone, and get information on America Recycles Day and recycling and waste reduction at the University.
Also, look for America Recycles Day displays at Michigan Stadium at the November 15th home game against Northwestern! Rufus the Recycler will also be making an appearance in the tailgate area next to the Stadium and Crisler Arena encouraging tailgating fans to recycle. Keep an eye out for Rufus! .
