Single Stream Recycling May Be Coming to UM Ann Arbor Campus
Ann Arbor, MI - October 7, 2009 - City of Ann Arbor staff will present a proposal for upgrading the city's recycling plant (MRF) from a two-sort (papers and containers) collection system to a source-separated, single-stream recycling operation (co-mingled papers and containers in one collection bin) at a working session before a City Council working session on October 12, 2009. If City Council approves such an upgrade, the University of Michigan Waste Management Services will evaluate changing its recycling program to adhere to the new single-stream collection process. If such a change occurs, paper and container recyclables will be collected in the same recycling bin on campus. Updates will be available at www.recycle.umich.edu.
