The Century Furniture Company which operated in Grand Rapids was founded in 1900 as a quality manufacturer of residential furniture in a wide range of European Revival styles. Century furniture was well built, with expensive materials and lavish decoration. Some of its designs pioneered the field of precise reproductions from museum collections, Century declared bankrupcy in 1942, and ceased production in 1945 when its name and factory were purchased by the Murray Furniture Co., also of Grand Rapids.
