Interior designer Cynthia Alexander approached the U-M Upholstery Shop about resurfacing the acoustical panels in the Michigan League Ballroom. The old panels were upholstered with a simple flat panel look: for the resurfacing, our challenge was to hand-pleat each panel in a 5" repeat pattern throughout the room. This gave the ballroom a textured look, changing the whole appearance and feel of the room. One of our greatest projects!

I had a particularly difficult job at the Michigan League that Phil and Chris not only kept on schedule but took the initiative to arrange for some details I had overlooked. They were thoughtful, organized, on time, and attentive to the client's requirements. The end result is not only a satisfied client but a very beautiful installation. During the rush to get the project completed, Phil took the time to get fabric samples to another client and complete a work order that I would have been forced to delay without his help. They are a wonderful resource for the University community. I must tell you that it is a pleasure to work with the Upholstery Shop and know that the work will be thorough, completed on time, and be of quality workmanship.
