Waste reduction is an excellent way to have a positive impact on the planet! Start by rethinking how you consume. Can you choose less packaging? Bring your own bag? Next, reuse what you can. Then recycle and compost—opportunities abound at U-M.

The Waste Reduction Program diverts waste from landfills in support of U-M’s sustainability goal of reducing waste sent to landfills by 40% by 2025. Waste prevention, recycling and composting are key elements of the program.
